Description
Elegant and spacious, without taking up a lot of space.
The PP49 is the smallest safe in the Platinum Plus line – but is still considered a wide safe. The cavernous interior securely houses up to 49 long guns and still has room for jewelry, pistols, documents and other important items. The PP49 has a shorter profile, allowing it to be stored under shelves or in a closet if need be.
Also, like well designed furniture, we’ve designed the PP49 to be wider like a bureau instead of the more common “boxy” refrigerator like dimensions in other safes (27″ exterior depth), allowing you to place the safe in any number of locations in your house without blocking off interior space. And given the elegant and clean stylings of the Platinum Plus safes, the PP49 will add style to any room instead of being a big eyesore taking up space in a corner.
- Factory Installed – Axis™ Adjustable Shelving System – Browning goes to great lengths to maximize the storage capacity and versatility of their safes. The new Axis Adjustable Shelving features track-mounted shelves that move up and down, and side to side, to let you store more in the safe! The shelves are steel and rubberized for extra durability. They have made them more uniform so even more great accessories can be added at any time.
- Factory installed LED lighting runs along the door frame unobstructed by shelves or other objects to provide ample lighting to the interior of the safe.
- Cedar Liner on walls and Leather look Undertones on floor
- AXIS File Box, AXIS Jewelry Box and AXIS Pistol Rack all included on Platinum Plus models.

Uni-Force Locking System
The Uni-Force Locking System Repels Attack.
The finest Browning ProSteel safe locking mechanism uses robust cam locks and a large, multiple diversion bar system to prevent bolt or handle pressure from reaching the lock. Forces go to the cams and diversion bars, not the lock, for protection unmatched by other locking systems.
Browning pioneered this engineering concept years ago, and it is now perfected in the most attack resistant designs offered. A determined attacker can use blunt force against locking bolts or handle pressue in an attempt to rotate the cams inside and then “force” open the safe. They think these impacts can affect or even break the locking system. They are wrong. Browning ProSteel’s multiple diversion bars won’t allow sufficient force to ever move through the locking system to the lock itself. The locking mechanism is not at risk.
Not every safe you can buy is designed with this kind of reinforced redundancy. In fact some gun safes ignore this area of common attack entirely. But not Browning ProSteel. That is why you get true Peace of mind with a top tier Browning ProSteel with the Uni-Force Locking System. Accept nothing less.

NEW THERMABLOCK FIRE PROTECTION.

When heat builds and flames roar, ThermaBlock ensures that your valuables are well protected. Exclusive to Browning ProSteel safes, ThermaBlock features thicker sheets of fire insulation arranged in an interlocking design that minimizes gaps that would allow the internal temperature in the safe to rise during a fire.
With ThermaBlock’s advantages, we begin fire-testing safes where the other brands’ testing ends. The chart shows that a Browning ProSteel safe with ThermaBlock and external hinges offers fire protection as much as three times better than a safe with internal hinges and gaps in fire protection that leave your valuables unprotected.
FIRE PROTECTION LIKE NO OTHER.
We understand that fire protection is more than just adding fire insulation to a safe. Other aspects of safe construction play crucial roles in the total fire protection package. Here, the little details add up to make or break the true fire protection a safe offers.
The thickness of the steel used in the body is vital. Heavier gauge steel flexes less when heated, limiting distortion that lets heat in through gaps in broken welds and around the door frame. Speaking of welds, we continuously weld — not spot weld like some of the competition — every seam for added resistance to heat-related flex. Even the door hinge design matters. All of these little touches add up to big gains in fire and heat resistance and go a long w ay towards protecting your most valuable possessions.
